46% for a Republican in NJ in March?  Nine point lead over a known Democrat?  Um... wow.  This one is the real deal.

“There are no good numbers for Gov. Jon Corzine in this poll, and since it was taken before his Draconian budget was released, his numbers could be even worse today.  Chris Christie continues to widen his lead over Jon Corzine in the race for Governor and this poll indicates Christie could become stronger once he gets better known.”

This race should be simple for the Republicans, so long as Corzine stays in the race.

First, they need to highlight Corzine's links to Wall Street where ever and when ever they can.  It's gone from an asset to absolutely toxic.

Second, Christie needs to define himself as soon as possible. It's as simple as putting out a simple bio: people don't know yet that he's a corruption-busting prosecutor.  Those who do know who Christie is are far more likely to vote for him over Corzine.

Third, Republicans need to make sure they have a solid fiscal plan, even if its just bare bones ideas.  I can't emphasize how important that is—they CAN lose, but only if their economic plan is viewed as worse than Corzine's.
