JBE has governed like an R; but with a D next to his name

Speaking as someone who lived in this state during Bobby Jindal's tenure: you could not be more wrong if you tried.

He really hasn't, though, and he's had several run-ins with the legislature because of it (look at the TOPS/higher ed fiasco that almost defunded college for the whole state last year). A Republican governor would almost certainly have made massive cuts that JBE refused to.

I agree he's been a conservative Democrat -- and I'm not remotely thrilled with him for signing the abortion bill -- but he's still a world away from the Republicans in this state.

Edwards 49
Rispone 25
Abraham 22

Edwards defeats Rispone in runoff, 53-47

Something very much along these lines, give or take a point. Not sure Rispone will crack 25 in the primary, but it'll be close.

Wait so if JBE wins outright 50% + 1 there's no general election?

Correct.

Anecdotally, the weather here was *beautiful* today, so this spells doom for someone, I’m sure. Can’t provide more than that — I voted last week. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Those St. Tammany results are astonishing. I really hope they hold.

Yep, it’s far and away the nicest weather we’ve had all week. Hopeful Edwards can pull out the win, although there have been quite a few Rispone signs in Jefferson Parish.

Rispone's been running ads smearing Edwards as a "radical leftist Democrat," which is, of course, absurd. "Liberal" is relatively mild and still misses the mark by a mile.

I guess thats good for around noon. Not sure the voting patterns of Louisianan though, especially on a Saturday.

Expect more votes in the evening -- a lot of us are still at work, even on a Saturday.
