The New York Times put together a very nice interactive map that shows the money numbers for every presidential candidate that's been in the debates except Gravel and for some reason Tancredo.

It shows the geographic range of each candidate's money as well, organized into regions by the zipcode.

http://www.nytimes.com/ref/us/politics/2008_EG_FINANCES.html

A couple points that jumped out.

-A LOT of Hillary's money came in the last week of each quarter.
-Obama's support is more widespread than Hillary's, as most of his dots get bigger except for the big cities.
-Romney got $3.83 million from Utah alone, it's even more money than he raised in all of Massachusetts or NYC, Long Island, and North Jersey combined. The next closest candidate in Utah is John McCain at $120k.
-Better than a third of Richardson's $12 million was from New Mexico.
-Dodd has $12 million raised, but very little of it was outside the Northeast and the California coast.
-Paul's support is small but widespread as lots of small equal-sized dots everywhere, which is expected I guess. Brownback's as well.
-Hunter does not exist outside of SoCal.
-Huckabee does not exist outside of Arkansas, east Texas, Louisiana, and a couple of other southern states.
-Kucinich is a lower-scale version of Paul's fundraising.
-Tommy Thompson should drop out. Half his money was from Wisconsin alone.
-It's easy to see why Gilmore got out.

An excellent graphic from the NY Times that focuses on expenditures rather than $ raised:

link

In terms of total expenditures for the year (not just Q2), the top spenders are:

Romney $32.3 m
McCain $23.2 m
Obama $22.7 m
Clinton $17.9 m
Giuliani $17.3 m
Edwards $9.8 m
Richardson $6.2 m
Dodd $5.7 m
Biden $3.7 m
Brownback $2.9 m
Tancredo $2.2 m
Hunter 1.1 m
everyone else less than $1 million

There's also a map of the campaign offices for the top three candidates from each party.  The Dems seem to have many more campaign offices in IA and NH, whereas the Republicans just have one or two for each state.  SC is the only other state where all six have at least one campaign office.  All the Dems have offices in NV, but none of the Republicans do.  Other common places for campaign offices are NYC, Los Angeles, Florida, and Illinois.  Neither Giuliani nor Romney has an office in DC.

So the top two fundraisers are Democrats, but the top two spenders six months before a primary are Republicans.
