I won't post my actual last name since it's pretty uncommon, but the top four states are NY, PA, CA, and FL.

I would be interested in seeing percentage distributions for the more common names if available since some of the maps (e.g. Smith) look like population indices.

Click here and then click onf "file A" for the top 1,000 sunames in the US, and you wil get an excel file of the  top 1,000 names for the excel file, by incidence and race, and you too will have the keys to the kingdom. I did an excel sort, and did a multiplication function, to get the date to pose my questions.

It is interesting that three out of the top five surnames by % black are names of former presidents.
