Now is not the time for division within our ranks. Our opponents on the right have never been stronger, more organized, and more bloodthirsty. Wink

We need to unite and march forward. We are the United Democratic Left, guys. It's time to coalesce around the party's strongest candidate, and I really do truthfully believe that to be myself.

We shouldn't let petty political arguments rebound to the right's benefit. We are the Left. It's what this party is all about. If we can't do that, there's no point for our existence, and no point for anyone who doesn't believe that we are here to fight for the Broad Left to be in the party to begin with.

We united because of our principles. Let's remember them.

I agree with most of this however, I think there's a more fundamental thing that people need to really get a grasp on.

We need to actually unite with EACH OTHER, this is a party which has membership that believes in some very basic principles. We need to value that unity and consider our differences in the light of what we actually agree on.

It's a shocking cliche, but what unites us should be stronger than what divides us.

It's only then, that we can unite behind a candidate to represent us.

I want an open, democratic and fair process, in which everyone who wants to have their voice heard, will not only have that option, but encouraged to do so.

So, whatever the council decides upon for this process, I ask that all involved conduct themselves in that spirit of positive competition and shared values.

I haven't been making my presence known much during this whole debate but I must agree with Polnut here, just for the record.  As someone who is friends with both Ben and Marokai, I haven't yet made up my mind who I'll support but I think as a party we do need to coalesce around a single candidate.
