29-year old sex spy who tried to influence (also through bed) organizations like NRA or National Prayer Breakfast.

Oh, god, the less you know, the better...

You would think this would be spicy, but it probably involves dressing as babies and spanking and other weird sh**t like that. It's probably the David Vitter thing mixed with the Rosenberg fiasco.

This seems so weird. Who on a jury would trust the testimony of A Russian spy, and if she tells the truth, how can we guarantee her safety. Her choice seems like it's witness protection or jail, and I just don't see why she would want to cooperate. That's a mark that will be on her for the rest of her life. Prison is temporary.

She would have to provide documentary evidence to back up any claims - same with anyone else who has flipped in this probe - Gates especially.

I think Butina's credibility would be even lower than Gates. Not sure how much lower you can go, and yet here we are!

So is Cohen going to a federal [let's keep this decorous please - Torie] prison, or an easy level college dormitory-like prison?

Also, obligatory:

I hope he gets soap on a rope for Christmas.

3 years is a substantial amount of time for a first offender on this sort of nonviolent crime. Cohen's not getting off easy. Won't be eligible for early release for 2 1/2 years.

Has to report to prison in March.

In a federal case? Not really. I'm surprised it was that low.

White collar offenders get very long time, even for first offenses, if they are involved in criminal enterprises or have committed multiple crimes. Thus Madoff. Many of the federal non-violent offenders have done large-scale frauds -- and those often involve mail fraud or wire fraud. It is hard to commit a large-scale financial crime without committing either mail  fraud (soliciting fraudulent transactions by mail, or getting payments by mail) or wire fraud (using broadcast media or the Internet to solicit dishonest business). Getting funds by check  or credit card typically imply wire fraud because most transactions involving a check or credit card imply a wire transfer of funds at some point.

The feds treat mail fraud and wire fraud with great seriousness.

Exactly.

My father knew a guy who got 18 years for stealing at least two million dollars (maybe much more) through a Ponzi scheme. It was crazy. Some Egyptian Psychiatrist named Hamdi or something like that did it.

Rudy offers a compromise for having Trump sit down with Mueller

Giuliani: Trump will only sit for interview with Mueller ‘over my dead body’

Unorthodox, but sounds acceptable to me.

Even America's Mayor turned-to-Trump-lapdog knows full well that if Drumpf sits down with Mueller under oath, it's going to be an orange jumpsuit.

Maybe Trump is draining the swamp by having so much attention drawn into it by being involved in it.

I think if Whittaker does something stupid, the House should immediately move to Impeachment.

They're gonna try and cover this up

I don't see how. Any report exonerating Trump is obviously worthless. After all, he's spent the last two years telling us it's a fake witch hunt. The House should redo the whole thing in an impartial fashion.

If we don't get a public report and become aware that we most likely may never get one, the House must either acquiesce to the cover up or conduct their own investigation. The absolute worse case for Democrats if they go forward with their own investigation is that this becomes their next Benghazi level conspiracy theory. The best case for Democrats if they let it go is that it becomes the next birth certificate level conspiracy theory.  These are the absolute worst case scenario because dozens of people are either in jail or going to jail over this. There's a there there and there is obviously fire. Anything short of something at least recommending the start of impeachment proceedings will make the entire Mueller thing look like a massive cover up.

Maybe our friends on the far-left are right that  we are spending too much time on the issues of corruption and enemy intelligence infiltration in the Federal government. But they are important issues.

You know when you get too excited for something, like Christmas or a birthday, and then when it's over you are sad?

That's liberals today.

I am going to cherish the day when god awful citizens like you are totally irrelevant to the outcome of presidential elections — the day when a Democrat gets to 270 without Ohio.

Disregarding margins, Dems would get 350 EVs before winning Ohio. Not counting possible shifts in the last four years or elasticity (especially Iowa).

I want them to win without Florida too, for good measure.

It would be crazy for them to win Georgia, North Carolina, and perhaps Arizona. Still come short by 50,000 votes in Florida.

On MSNBC I never heard anyone say he was totally exonerated. There were a few who said he was cleared on collusion. I heard it stressed many times that he was not exonerated on obstruction.

I’d imagine what it really said was that the conspiracy piece was up to Congress to impeach and that the obstruction was still being discussed amongst the grand jury.

Deadline past. Trump admin ignores the and law refuses to release President's tax records to Congress while White House lies about audit.

https://www.reuters.com/article/us-usa-trump-tax-deadline/trump-not-inclined-to-give-tax-returns-to-house-panel-white-house-idUSKCN1RZ1NY
Quote
"As I understand it, the president's pretty clear: Once he's out of audit, he'll think about doing it, but he's not inclined to do so at this time," White House spokesman Hogan Gidley told Fox News in an interview.

Representative Richard Neal, Democratic chairman of the House of Representatives Ways and Means Committee, requested six years of Trump's individual and business returns on April 3 and has set a final deadline of 5 p.m. EDT (2100 GMT) on Tuesday, informing IRS Commissioner Charles Rettig in a letter that failure to comply would be viewed as a denial.

At this point adverse inference and deliberate spoilation of evidence come into play, and Trump and his subordinates wilful withholding of evidence can itself be considered proof that Trump is guilty of abuse of office and conspiracy to defraud the United States, at an absolute minimum. Were Republicans good faith participants in our government, Trump's removal (and subsequent indictment) would he swift and certain.

It's definitely obstruction. Maybe Democrats will do better because Trump is proud of it. At least Clinton was embarrassed.

Uhhh a judge just released over fifty pages of texts between Manafort and Hannity after Manafort's conviction.

Elmo?

Can you explain the significance of this, please.

Well, among other things, it demonstrates that when Hannity was "objectively reporting" on Manafort's indictment, he was really just giving his audience Manafort's spin disguised as journalism. Whether that is legal or not, I don't know.

It’s proof he is fake news. Then again, here’s more entertainment than News
