Can't really disagree with any of the ones listed. Just some alternative ones:

1920s: Has to be 1929
1930s: 1939, when WW2 started
1940s: 1943, the Allies gained the upper hand in the war (e.g. Battle of Stalingrad)
1950s: 1957, Sputnik
1960s: 1962, Cuban Missile Crisis
1970s: 1973, Watergate, Yom Kippur War, oil crisis
1980s: Has to be '89
1990s: Can't think of a better one than '91
2000s: Can't think of a better one than '01
2010s: 2011, Arab Spring (technically it began in late 2010), Occupy Wall Street
