What are your thoughts on the proposed Lieutenant Governor amendment being debate in the Mideast Assembly? If I recall correctly, you are a former Lieutenant Governor of the region so I'd be especially interested in hearing your views.

I've long been an advocate of the Lt. Governor position as a valuable asset to our region.  I haven't been following the proposed text, but I believe the Lt. Governor should be elected separately from the Governor, and should be given a tie-breaking vote in the Legislature.

Dearest Constituents,

The Trial, Not Turnout Amendment has come to a vote.  I urge to all vote in its favor.

I wanted to take this time to discuss my achievements.  Since I was appointed last May, I've been one of the Senate's most consistently active members, almost never missing a vote (only one total, I believe) on bills or amendments.  I'm the founding father of the Senate NSC, and have guided the NSC as Chairman the entire time, leading confirmation hearings and hearings on numerous pieces of legislation.

In addition, a number of bills I've introduced have been passed into law.  These include the Holding CEOs Accountable Act, which ended the practice of allowing malfeasant CEOs from claiming benefits; the Contempt of Congress Act, which forced people to testify before Congressional Committees; and the Legalization of Online Poker Act, which speaks for itself.  In addition, I've sponsored the most recent FPR, and am currently sponsoring some legislation on behalf of the SoEA regarding the structure of the military.

I feel that all I've done is well deserving of another term, so please vote Ben this February Smiley

I've been thinking recently, about the fact that I've spent more than 5 years in Atlasia, and I've held office continuously since December of 2010.  I've loved serving the People, whether at the regional level, in the Senate, or in the Cabinet.  I've reached a decision.

This will be my last election.

It's time for new blood to come into the game.  I will not be leaving the game, merely stepping aside for new players to hold office.  I hope there are people willing to carry on my passionate interest in foreign affairs, and I intend to keep pushing the major foreign policy issues of our time.  We need people involved in foreign policy for this game to thrive.

That said, I am very much planning to serve out this term and, if I am reelected, I will serve the next term to its last day.  I have prized activity, and i hope to remain active, whether I hold office or not.

Good night.

Maybe someday there'll run a write-in/draft Ben for President campaign someday.

Never say never.  But it'll be a long time.

Then let me make you feel better - I am not resigning.  I'm announcing my preemptive retirement, which will be official when I am no longer the Mideast's Senator.  That may be in a few weeks, maybe a few months.

It would appear that I have been reelected!  Thank you to everyone who voted for me, everyone who supported me, and everyone else who made this possible.  And thanks to Gass and JCL, both of whom ran honest, clean campaigns.

You're not even going to wait for voting to end?

Every agency has projected me as the victor.

Incontrovertible know, it just strikes me as improper to do that.

I disagree.  Once I've been projected, and it's mathematically impossible for me to lose, I feel safe in declaring victory.
