Mitt Romney: "No one better qualified than a man, a father, a Mormon"

Obama: "No one more qualified than a black"

Imagine the reaction...

While there will be reaction to Obama saying that, remember how Sotomayor was handled? Anyone who accused her of racism was attacked.

Of course, I am of the belief that 'race' and sex should never be a factor.

Sotomayor didn't say "no one more qualified than a Latina," she was talking about the value of different perspectives. Loads of people piled onto her for those comments, too, and to the best of my knowledge nearly all of them are still active in politics today and more powerful than ever...

I know what she said. Skin tone and ethnicity don't give a unique perspective. It's racism.

We agree, then; it's a person's experience with racism, subtle or deliberate, along with sexism and various other human foibles that give them a unique perspective, not literally their skin tone or ethnicity.
