Why is this a problem? As long as a fair election is being held, you shouldn't have anything to hide, right?

American elections aren't at the level of other liberal democracies, and there are cases of problems in recent elections. Of course Anerica isn't Russia....but there's no reason to assume that nothing can go wrong.

Oh, and anyone that seriously suggests leaving the UN is automatically in my idiot book. Further proof isn't required, even if there's plenty of it available in one case in this thread.

Thank you for supporting the PATRIOT Act and the like. Wink

Well elections are a public matter (and the use of language was intentional, considering Republican arguments for other issues Smiley).

Pity the U.S. doesn't have a clause like in the German GG regulating how elections are run.

Its their job to correct any election that has been corrupted, its suprising they hadn't done this before, all things considered.

They have.

Considering that the US was the first of the modern day republics, why am I not surprised to see Democrats cheering other nations telling the US what to do? GTFO, UN.

You're (unsurprisingly) using faulty logic there.

I really don't understand why anyone could be against more people paying attention to the election process? This can only be a bad thing if you believe they'll find something and want to hide it.

In reality, of course, it's just your typical American right-wing hypocrisy bulls**t.

Just out of curiosity, where do they get the power to monitor our elections from? This should not be tolerated. We have a ton of domestic vote watching groups on all sides of the political spectrum, we dont need UN authoritarian morons getting involved.
