It's more the fact that it's not even abnormal to expect an election dispute.

This doesn't actually mean the race has to be close.

I remember that McCain and Obama did the same in late Oct. 2008 when it was already clear that Obama would win in a landslide.

This is just business-as-usual I guess ...

Doesn't mean it'll be close at all, but anything within a certain margin in most US states (up to 0.5%-1% or so depending on the state) is worthy of considering legal action. Not even counting the possibility of widespread official misconduct (like Florida 2000).
