Bringing up "Pence is X than Trump" is really, really missing the point. The reason we shouldn't attempt to impeach Trump is because the 2/3rds bar in the Senate is impossible to reach, and a failed impeachment attempt would leave the party looking weak and foolish. That is, however, the only reason we shouldn't attempt to impeach Trump.

But yeah, the new Democratic House should spend its time hounding Trump and gathering dirt for our eventual 2020 nominee to use. Constantly call the creeps in the White House in on subpoenas to speak to various House investigatory committees so they'll be too busy testifying to work. Make their lives miserable.

And if the stuff is that bad, I can see the Republicans persuading Trump to resign.

No one in the GOP Congress wants to change candidates midway through 2019 and embroil their party in civil war, no matter how bad the allegations against Trump are.

Hey guys I have a great idea! Let's impeach Trump and really get our hands dirty! Throw him out of office and let Mike Pence step up just in time for 2020 to "clean up the mess" and prove that he's not Trump. Or we can take the House, stop Trump, and defeat Trump. Your call.

Again, what the hell are you talking about? Removing Trump from office is not what we're talking about when we say impeachment, we're talking about the House...impeaching Trump. The Senate's acquittal is baked in.

I don't think impeachment is a good idea because Trump's acquittal will make the party look weak, but that has nothing to do with Mike Pence, who is irrelevant to this conversation because Trump's conviction by the Senate is impossible.
