Its a good thing I don't have to pay for these medicines financially!

YAY for people subsidizing your years of over indulging and stuffing your face!  Self control?  PSH!  Who needs it when there's free drugs!

And let's not forget that this is money that is supposed to go towards helping Native Americans who didn't have a lot of resources or opportunities growing up. No, it must go towards subsidizing Bushie and his awful habits.

Aaaah, so you opened a new thread, Bushie.

Well, now we can see how serious you are, as well as your declarations.

You're a joke, bro. Call it a personal attack, but it's merely a statement of fact.

Dude, just let it go. There is no need for it. Even Inks should cool it. Yes, we know he is a pathological liar. Yes, we know he is a lazy ass (he will be sitting around watching baseball all day tomorrow and relaxing instead of doing something productive, even if it is just for his health). There is just no need to call him out on this anymore. Yes, we know he is a joke and we should just let him be because obviously he won't change.

The man drank five entire glasses of water yesterday afternoon! How can you call him dysfunctional when he clearly has a very functional pair of kidneys? Do you have any idea what the street value of a good kidney is?

Good point. He deserves to relax and treat himself at least two days.

I suspect you don't drink diet coke but the "real" stuff. You might as well just shoot up sugar.

I have heard those fish oil pills lead to some smelly, fishy burps. Maybe it helps to take it with some soda?

Actually, the diabetic "diet" is what the rest of us should be eating regularly. Diabetics aren't on a diet, they are just told by their doctors to eat like the rest of us should.

Also, how does one have a 10 course meal?

10 was probably an exaggeration, but a 5-7 course meal is very common.  Generally, the meat is the first course, corn, mashed potatoes, green beans, baked beans, dinner rolls, salad.

And desert

Plus dessert which when we're not having company is usually banana pudding or coconut cream cake or strawberry shortcake.  When we do have company, it's normally at least peach pie and pumpkin pie as the choices.  My mother is diabetic, so she only has a small bowl of pudding or some sugar free cookies for dessert.

My grandmother used to fix a German Chocolate Cake, but since I can't have chocolate due to it giving me migraine headaches, she stopped.

You should just eat what your mother eats.

The point of drinking a lot of water (beyond keeping your organs such as your kidney well perfused) is that you can eat less and still feel full. If you just eat the same amount and drink more water, it's not going to do anything for you.

You misconstrued what I said (which is normal, I guess).  I never said I was raised to sit on my butt and play on the Internet, rather I was raised to treat other people and the relationships with them, especially your own family, as more important than yourself even when it comes to your health.  I was born in the 1980's, but I was raised in a 1930's and 1940's mentality where relationships were the key to survival.  Oh, by the way, the 1930's mentality is NOT obsolete and should be brought back at all costs.  It is so much better than the 2010's mentality.

I posted on the forum while I was visiting with my family.  It's something called a tablet.

You really don't know what I do on a daily basis, so you really have no right to judge me and condemn me and yell at me for not doing what I should be doing.  Do I judge you and condemn you for what you are doing?  And, don't use the crappy excuse "well, what I do is better than what you do."

I do care about losing weight, but don't people realize it is a lot harder when family is around?  No one can expect me to keep the same routine with or without family.  I am doing what I can, but one day is not going to kill me.

I don't want to die early, but I also refuse to be old and miserable.  I would rather die young and happy than old and miserable.  Plus, when I die, I will have had the last laugh because I will win.  I just don't want to die too quickly.

Have you forgotten that I am not paying anything for my medication?  Those fish oil pills are not costing me a dime.  The blood pressure medicine, not a dime.  The Tourette's medicine, not a penny.  The anti-inflammatory, not a thing.  The only thing I have to pay for is the gas going to and from the pharmacy which is 45 miles round trip.

I am not upset by any of this, I am just pointing out the weaknesses and inaccuracies in your story.

While it is very hard right now, I have never said I was not going to not do what I can.  Missing one day every now and then is not going to kill me, especially when my diet was a lot better than it has been.

When the company leaves and the birthdays are over, I will really get down to business as things will settle down, but I will do what I can now.

Why don't you go on a walk with your family members?

If Bushie does walk, I wonder how fast he walks. He should at least try to hit 3 mph.

In the counterfactual hypothetical world where he would follow through an exercise routine, I would strongly encourage him to discuss it with a doctor first. Don't want to give him a heart attack from the exertion. Bushie, prove me wrong. Please. It's not often I'm willing to admit I was wrong about anything. This could be a slam dunk case.

This is good advice. Though if he can't even walk 3 mph on the flat ground of Oklahoma without the threat of a heart attack, he wont' live long.

I don't want to necessarily say these are from God, yet, as I still need to talk to the Maisha Coordinator first and see if what I'm feeling would actually be doable.

Wait, what? God cares about what some Maisha coordinator thinks?

So why aren't you helping underprivileged youth in Oklahoma city, Bushie?

So what happens when you reach one of those marks?

When I reach any mark but the lowest one, I keep going.

What about when you reach your lowest goal. What do you do then?

I recommend cooking for yourself. More control over what you eat and a better value.

With the last of the company leaving tomorrow morning and the family dinners over after tonight, we will be able to do just that.  In fact, tonight is a homecooked meal - Beans & Cornbread, which is not too bad, I guess as the beans are a good source of protein.  The cornbread is just bread with no real nutritional benefit or nutritional hazard.

Cornbread leads to a quick insulin spike. Try and replace cornbread with whole grains. I am glad you are eating beans, and if you can, try and eat more fruits. Your dessert should be fruits.

And I will concur on the lentils. They are excellent for you and they taste really good too. You should really try and make some split chickpeas. I swear they taste great. I can tell you a recipe too if you would like. Though it needs some Indian spices you likely don't have......

This is a bit off topic, but do you guys believe that marrying baby mama is the right course of action in such a circumstance?

Aborting the pregnancy would make more sense.

Do they have condoms in Oklahoma? Or are they considered sinful?

Murdering the baby never makes more sense, especially since this wasn't a rape or incest and the mom's life wasn't in any danger.

Yes, they have condoms.

Please stop with this "Oklahoma is inferior" crap.  It's getting old.

It's such a pity that census and anecdotal evidence says otherwise...

and as someone who was raised from the age of 8 in a single-parent home, I resent your earlier assumption... deeply. Continual demonstration that your sheltered world-view leaves you incapable of actually passing comment on much at all.

There are definitely exceptions to both rules, and I thought I made that clear, but in general it is better to have two parents.

Just because I have a biblical world view that my grandmother grew up with doesn't make me too sheltered and incapable of passing comment.  If I took what you said with any truth, I should just leave the forum and quit the Internet all together, because obviously I am too naive on every subject.

I am smarter than most on this forum believes.  I have a lot of knowledge about quite a few subjects and I am more than capable to pass comment.

I can confirm that

"I am smarter than most on this forum believes.  I have a lot of knowledge about quite a few subjects and I am more than capable to pass comment."

is a lie. Bushie is as naive and incompetent as he seems on the forum.

You need to tell us more about him!

A little programming note:  On Sunday, 28 April 2013 at 23:45 CDT, Update VI will close.  On Monday, 29 April 2013 at 00:15 CDT, Update VII will open.  It will be the beginning of a new year in the main character's life.

What's with the arbitrary new starting time for Update VII?  And why is the update thread taking a 30 minute break?

My birthday is Monday and I want to get a clean start.  As far as the 30 minute break, do I have to have a reason?

If you don't want to seem crazy, yes.

Bushie may not be inspirational or charismatic (though we don't know him in real life but we can make an educated guess lol), but he seems to be able to manipulate people. He could be an ok minister. He should really try that out before spending money on CAD.

The problem is he is rarely home when I'm over there.  Catching him is a task all on its own.

Have you heard of a phone?
