Black Hat is reported to have been killed.

White Hat guy has reportedly been identified as Sunil Tripathi, a Brown University student who has been missing since March.

Whoever came up with this is a fukcing moron.

The traditional media is a joke. Not sure why people still take them seriously.

Eh, I think the internet community is more to blame for the Tripathi thing blowing up, honestly.

One of his "friends" apparently pointed the finger at him. That guy is definitely not his friend and should be publicly ostracized as far as I am concerned. A family has their son go missing for months and then people casually link him to a bombing even though he doesn't look like the suspect just because he is brown? Imagine what the family is going through now. What a bunch of racist cocksuckers.

For some reason I'm most curious about the other name floating around that was completely wrong: Mike Mulugeta. I get the Sunil Tripathi flub, given the publicity of his disappearance, his uncanny resemblance to the blurry FBI photos, and the fact that a former classmate of his stated unequivocally that it was him on Twitter, but the other name (Ethiopian, apparently) was first mentioned on police scanners as far as I know.

I don't really see how Sunil looks like that guy but I guess he is brown! Automatic suspect!

There were a couple of pictures where the resemblance was uncanny, but apparently it was just those couple. It didn't help matters any that the police actually mentioned Sunil's name.

The classmate or "friend" saying it was him was likely the real problem. I don't know how many times the police repeated it, and whether it was just some random cop. Just imagine how their family feels. It's utterly disgusting, and only because people are closed minded morons.

Actually it doesn't even seem like the cops said anything about it. Just some retards on the internet who should be prohibited from commenting on anything more complex than American idol or do you have a voice or whatever that other retarded show is.

This is starting to seem more an more like the case of Faisal Shahzad the failed Time Sq. Bomber. Immigrants who tried to make it work in the USA then life didn't work out then became 'self-radicalized'

But were their motivations more about Chechnyan nationalism or anti-Western Radical Islam?

It seems like the older brother was trouble. I think his life choices were looked down at by his family, who seem to be the "become a doctor or engineer" types. Thus, he may have become radicalized and brought his brother along. This seems to be based in radical islam. I don't know whether the target was America, the west in general, or even Russia (though wouldn't a consulate or the embassy be a better choice?). I really hope they catch the other guy alive so we can understand their motives.

So, how long until he's caught? Days, weeks, months, or years?

How does he survive? Where does he stay? Does he have cash? And people might actually start reporting him when they see him around. Of course they might also report any person who looks brown. Roll Eyes

Unlikely, considering he's pretty flagrantly white.

And yet that didn't stop twitter.....

It seems like he gave up, no? His injuries are probably from last night. He will be fine.

Except that they accused a guy who has been missing for more than a month for a crime he didn't commit, causing untold grief to his already grieving family and friends. Other than that, good job twitter retards!

Or the other two Arab American track dudes.

The sheer volume of information is pretty amazing though and I think some potential lessons learned on citizens as force multiplier. However, it can take a trained eye to separate the wheat from the chaff.

I do enjoy the greater amount of information and resources the Internet can provide. I really enjoyed listening in to the police scanner this evening. I just don't need a running commentary from a bunch of folks on twitter, just like I don't need meaningless commentary from more traditional news sources.

Live closed captioning can be awfully hit and miss.  but that didn't just miss the bullseye, or even the target, but it missed the firing range.

Do they have autocorrect? I can imagine my iPhone doing something like that.
