So basically America needs to consume less? I think gas prices are rapidly taking care of that.

The USA consumes almost as much as the entirety of Europe? That is slightly shocking.

sbane, gas prices in the USA are still far lower than throughout much of Europe.

That is why European cities are designed in a different way than American cities. Here people commute more than a 100 miles a day through traffic just so they can have a nice big yard. That will change soon. Perhaps jobs will move though but any way you cut it consumption will go down.
