I object.

I don't believe that a right to have an elective procedure free of charge should be in the constitution. If we did that for every medical procedure it would mean we'd have to spend more and raise more taxes and it would be impossible to reform health care spending.

I don't want to shut off the possibility of community service or service to a victim as restitution for a crime, so making all involuntary servitude as punishment unconstitutional might be a bad idea.

I'm going to put forward this amendment to prohibit capital punishment outside of civilian courts as well. The military tribunal loophole has been bugging me and I think closing it fits in with the rest of this:

I just noticed that my amendment text inadvertently left out the part about life imprisonment w/o parole and solitary confinement.

I wanted to bring up the fact that we had left out something, but I'm not actually inclined to put forward an amendment to put it back in at least the same as it was. Based on what we've tried before, the ban on life sentences would make this amendment unlikely to pass, and the ban on solitary confinement should really have some defining parameters as to what qualifies.

So I'm sorta wondering what TNF or anyone else wants to do at this point.

A final vote is now open once again on this Constitutional Amendment, Senators please vote Aye, Nay or Abstain.

just to be clear, this is a resumption of the vote, not the vote starting over?

Its a new vote as I don't think there are provisions to restart a stopped vote where it left off. That is because typiclaly the text needs to be changed and it wouldn't make sense to carry votes over from a vote on a text that no longer exists.

Ok, thanks.

I am hessitant to fail this. I like the middle section and the bottom portion.

But on the flip side I do support capital punishment and am hessitant to remove it from the military.

Is there any particular benefit to retaining it specifically in the military?
