I've been reading comments on Marc Ambinder's two entries about possible McCain veeps, as well as speculation elsewhere.  What are the most unrealistic ideas you've read so far that are serious?  (No Chuck Norris/Sly Stallone/Oprah/Bill Clinton jokes, please.)

For McCain: Carly Fiorina, Steve Forbes (even if he was a presidential contender in 2000)

For Obama: Colin Powell

Edit: There sure are a lot of suggestions of figures from the corporate world.  Now, McCain is no Romney, but does he really need to placate the Wall Street/big business Republicans?

Well, there's Frist, DeLay, or Allen.  They're not as unlikely candidates as Powell for Obama, but they're dinos whose stars have fallen in the eyes of the electorate and the media.

Too bad both sides know that Lieberman is a snaky opportunist, not to mention old and uninspiring, otherwise he'd make the perfect trans-party VP.  McCain-Lieberman makes total sense to me.

I see.  Who are the other African American Republicans of note (besides Rice and Powell)?  How are J.C. Watts, Blackwell, and any others unfeasible?

Are there any notably competent racial minority or female Republican politicians out there these days?  I can't think of any except Rice/Powell.  Elizabeth Dole?

Meg Whitman (ex-CEO of eBay).  I don't care if she's getting invited to McCain's ranch or not; a CEO VP?  No way.  Makes no sense.
