     First my last name:

     Then my father's last name:

     Next my grandmother's maiden name:

     Finally my ex-girlfriend's last name:

You can notice four distinct tiers of commonality here.

White was the 14th most common black name in the United States in absolute numbers. My mother's maiden name was White by the way.  In percentage terms, the surname with the highest percentage of blacks using that name had a percentage of 89.87% of the total using that surname.

I think revealing your mother's maiden name is dangerous - people can apply for credit cards etc.

All my real names are very common - in fact in the bangkok airport recently I was paged and met a strange man looking for another one with my name.

Shocked I'm in trouble then; my last name is my mother's maiden name.

My last name is Brown, so that should give you more than just a clue as to how popular my name is.  I've got a VERY generic name -- Jeffrey Brown.

Oh really? I have a very Argentinian name. Not only that, but I had a great-grandfather who landed at Buenos Aires when he came to the United States. It's a conspiracy, I tell you. Tongue

Decided to do the maiden names for both of my maternal great-grandmothers.

Well I think we know where all the bastards are:

That explains Sam Spade.

I found another humorous last name:

Now we need to figure out who this explains. Tongue

Generally, I've found that Mandarins are better-off than Cantonese.

Doesn't surprise me. During the Song dynasty, government officials & their families were called Mandarins (I think; haven't studied it in a long time).
