Biden won and he won BIG. I'm quite confident that IF expectations hadn't been as low as they were for Palin, almost everyone would have agreed that Biden won. The only reason why the polls were close was because people expected Palin to get slaughtered. She didn't get slaughtered but Biden had the stronger arguments and actually talked as if he knew what he was talking about (which he generally does, despite a gaffe here and there), while Palin sounded like she was given completely rehearsed answers (which she probably was). There was really no contest.
