Upstate has 'record' turnout in Pickens, Greenville supposedly. Charleston with "light" turnout.

MSNBC: 26% of those who came out today were independents compared to 18% in 2008.

More good news for Paul.

Or Colbert. Wink

Yeah, I'm thinking Gingrich will break 40% now, perhaps easily.

South Carolinians sure do hate a Mormon.

Well, they were Al Smith's best state, with 91.4% of the vote, so I guess they don't mind Catholics that much.

So many things wrong with this statement. Tongue

No, but the votes so far are mostly from Charleston and Columbia.

Santorum sounds clearly like he might drop out soon and endorse the Newt ...

That's not what I'm hearing, lol

Yeah, he says he's in it for the long haul.

Well, for the first time in history of modern primaries, three diffrent candidates won three first contests.

Modern Republican primaries only. Democrats have done it a couple times, most recently in 1992.

Also, if you count Wyoming, the Republicans did it in 2008 as well.

No, it's happened before on the GOP side as well.  In 2008:

Iowa: Huckabee
New Hampshire: McCain
Michigan: Romney

Wyoming was actually the second contest and Romney won that.

When you think about the candidates, this map is so predictable.

Hilarious, surely?

I actually want your opinion, because there's both a class and an urban and rural dynamic going on here, but my real thought is - shouldn't we just concede the South that is not VA and FL, and Appalachia to Gingrich now.

Santorum has a good chance to be competitive in at least northern Appalachia.

Why did Santorum do so well in the Charlotte suburbs?

I am hearing through the grapevine that "nearly 6,000 people" wrote in Stephen Colbert.

Write-ins aren't allowed, I thought. Over 6,000 voted for Cain, if that's what you mean.
