Boris Johnson is a joke.

The Conservative Party will not particularly better in terms of percentage of votes cast, but will pick up seats as dissident Labour voters either stay at home or help the Lib Dems. This will move Con/Lab marginals to the Tories. The Tories will lose a couple of seats to the Lib Dems - probably West Dorset (Letwin), although Howard will be safe in Folkestone thanks to the immigration issue there.

Watch out for the Lib Dems to start chipping away at city centres - Birmingham Yardley (Estelle Morris' consituency), probably get Rochdale back as well.

Tory is right in predicting that Labour looks to have at least a decade more in power, barring unforeseeable events. I personally don't think that the next party into power will be the Tories if they continue with people like IDS or Howard - they need somebody more appealing to the centre ground, as this is where elections are won and lost, not by out-flanking UKIP on your right. I personally adore David Willetts because he is very clever, but I don't think is personable enough for the office.

It's shocking isn't it.
No fantasy politics this time though.

Is the UKIP socially conservative on issues like abortion and the like?

According to the UKIP website, UKIP favour freedom of choice and letting the people decide; They offer no specific position on abortion.
