at a deadlocked democrat convention, delegates turn to the 39 year old fresh face from massachusetts, john f. kennedy.
in a surprise move, kennedy choose former republican governor of minnesota, harold stassen as his running mate. the 49 year old stassen also served in several positions in the eisenhower administration.
jfk promised to reach across party lines to bring a 'new day' to america. he criticized the eisenhower administration of being complacent and out of touch with the young adults of america.
