Cunningham literally just raised $7M+. Looks like they're donating to all.

Cunningham is 47 and in good shape. Not exactly a high risk individual.

The party of Donald Trump and Roy Moore has no credibility left to criticize anyone's sexual misconduct. Not to mention that Cunningham sounds like a guy from a Nicholas Sparks novel.

Didn't someone mention that Charlotte Observer would make a big deal out of this incident?
Or did it come out too late for the front page to change?

Serious question: when was the last time a politician lost a race because of an affair?
And is this is even an affair? From what I understand it never went beyond their high-school level sexting.

He's dumb. But a crime wasn't committed. People have sex and cheat everyday. Will he vote in favor of the policies I support? Yes? Ok, next.

They didn't even have sex.

Trump's misbehavior, sexually, was long in the past, and at a time when he wasn't thinking of public office.  That doesn't justify what he did, but he certainly appears to have made the decision to clean up his act before running for office.

He paid hush money to a porn star while he was running for president. But then again I'm sure you knew that.

I have no problem with Trump paying hush money to Stormy Daniels.  That's not a crime.

Then you have forfeited any right to judge someone else's  morality.

On the other hand, the overwhelming majority of folks looting, burning, and rioting over the past 5 months that vote are going to vote for Trump.

Well, if you say so.

Our North Carolinian posters should chime in. Is this story getting any traction? Is it swamped by all the other stuff on the news? Is it treated as something serious or just some kind of salacious side-story?

Can this really be called a sex scandal anymore than Carter's "lust in my heart"?

Yes, because this is cheating, whereas what Carter did was not cheating.

How is this cheating if there was no sex involved?

If my wife was sexting other men, I (and most other people) would consider it cheating.

We aren't in the Dark Ages and we don't have a thought police. If some tame sexting is considered cheating then what's next? Will seeing a beautiful woman on the street and having sexual thoughts about her be considered cheating too?

Congratulations to re-elected Senator Thom Tillis.

Senator Bob Hugin sends his regards.

Menendez won by 12% while Democrats won the House PV by 20% despite Republicans having most of the incumbency advantages. It's clear these things can have an impact, but it's hard to swing a federal race super heavily unless it's something really really bad, and someone cheating is certainly not the worst scandal.

My impression is that Menendez was more hurt by allegations of corruption than anything else.

It sounds like this woman threatened revenge porn... which is a felony in both NC and CA.

Yeah, Cunningham was stupid but this gave me flashbacks of Katie Hill.

If Cunningham is silent, it could mean there is more to drop here and worse than what we have already seen.

Or he is following the Ezra Miller tactic.

Even if Cal wins, it's Cawthorn's seat in 2026 anyway

Your obsession with Cawthorn is getting really weird.

http://american-ledger.com/accountability/thom-tillis-ex-wife-cites-cruel-and-inhuman-treatment-in-divorce-documents/

Lmao. I had a dream last night that Tillis would have some relationship dirt that would be dug up, and lo and behold.

Quote
According to court filings obtained by American Ledger, North Carolina Republican Senator Thom Tillis’ ex-wife alleged “cruel and inhuman treatment” by Tillis, raising questions about the reasons surrounding the couple’s eventual divorce. In Tennessee, where the couple was married, “cruel and inhuman treatment” legally includes domestic violence, adultery, emotional or verbal abuse, and sexual assault.

The divorce complaint, filed in August 1979 on Tillis’ birthday, stated that Tillis was “guilty of such cruel and inhuman treatment or conduct towards the plaintiff as renders further cohabitation unsafe and improper.” The divorce filing also noted that Tillis’ ex-wife felt “unsafe and improper” living with Tillis any further because of his actions, which may include any or all of the actions outlined in the law.

Welp...

May God rest Kay Hagan's soul, but her oppo research team really sucked.

It's not Cunningham's job to talk about Tillis's divorce papers. That's what Super PACs are for.

McArthur is right. There is no reason for Democrats to take the high road when it comes to Tillis.
Like someone said a few days ago regarding SCOTUS, hardball is bad. One sided hardball is even worse.

If Cunningham is elected then Republicans can only blame themselves and Trump. Not only he desensitized voters but also it's kind of hard to exploit your opponent's sex scandal when at the top of your ticket is a sexual predator who paid hush money to a porn star.

People also seem to forget how toxic Tillis is. His favorables at the latest PPP poll were 31/54.
People might sour on Cunningham but they absolutely despise his opponent.
