1.  Blogger is mentally ill and invented this fantasy, maybe even actually believes it.  The "reluctance" in the admission is a put-on.  He was eager to tell people for the validation.  People around Haley aren't sure or believe him even and were scared and trying to kill it.

or

2.  There was some relationship or incident.  He's not making it up but his "reluctance" to reveal it is still a put-on.  He's reveling in the attention.

Either of these seem feasible, but I think the key to understanding this story is that his own thirst for attention (and ability to feign disinterest in it) is a stronger factor than his interest in who wins the primary.  If I had to place a bet, option #1 seems a bit more likely of the two.

Nice find lief

If he indeed "still supports her for governor," why is he still stringing along the media, in such a way as to maximize damage to her?

If he most wanted to support her candidacy, he would f'n deny it until after primary day.  This whole think still smells like shady baloney of the worst sort.

I've come around.  Her behavior is pretty suspicious actually and indicative of the existence of a relationship that needs covering up.  As for the issue of: does he really support her candidacy with this behavior?  The answer is simple:  What he supports is himself being the center of attention first and foremost.  Everything after that is a distant secondary concern.   He's the bigger whore.

(Drudge Report's refusal to cover this which no doubt they'd do for a Democratic personal scandal totally discredits any claim they'd make to being anything less than RW partisans.)
