But I suppose there are usually only be 4-5 speeches that are at all memorable, at most. The rest doesn't matter terribly, although politicians like Gillibrand really deserve the chance to be showcased.

Republicans are lucky that their unpopular ex-President is sensible enough not to appear at their convention in person. (Although I suppose we have no way of knowing whether he'll choose to participate in conventions two or three decades from now.)
