I have a feeling the Romney camp is very much regretting picking Ryan instead of Rubio.

I dunno. It depends on how much you think Rubio would have helped him in CO/NV/NM.
I doubt have helped that much directly (after all, the mostly mostly mestizo Hispanics there might not really identify with a white Cuban-American) but it would help secure the very expensive Florida, freeing resources to campaign in those states.
