Prescott Bush (R-CT)/Karl E. Mundt (R-SD)

vs

Albert S. Gore (D-TN)/Pat Brown (D-CA)

Is this based on something I said?

Senator Prescott Bush (R-CT)/Senator Karl E Mundt (R-SD) 324 electoral votes
Senator Albert S Gore Sr. (D-TN)/Governor Edmund G "Pat" Brown Sr. (D-CA) 213 electoral votes

I didn't intend for a landslide, I was just going by my memories of the Eisnehower landslides and the fact that MA and other North-Eastern states all went for Ike, and Bush isn't facing a Kennedy.

Fair, although I would switch Delaware, Alaska, and Hawaii.

I can see Delaware, but why Alaska and Hawaii?

Nixon actually campaigned in Alaska, and won it by a tepid margin - something I don't think Prescott would do. Alaska was projected to be a Democratic state when admitted to the Union - given its dependence on federal spending.

In 1958, Alaska sent two Democratic Senators, a Democratic Representative to Congress, and elected a Democratic Governor.

Hawaii, however, initially voted for Nixon but was recalled for Kennedy after a "recount." Without Kennedy's star-power, I could picture Hawaiians to be skittish about voting for a Southern Democrat who I doubt could match Kennedy's style.

Weird. Just goes to show how stuff changes.
