Ah yes, once again... post edited for pointing out people who get away with homophobic posts on the forum.  Maybe I should just point them out in my signature or something.

How is RFayette "better" than DC? How is TJ, an "optimist", exempt? What does this thread have to do with any of that?

Ah yes, once again... post edited for pointing out people who get away with homophobic posts on the forum.  Maybe I should just point them out in my signature or something.

How is RFayette "better" than DC? How is TJ, an "optimist", exempt? What does this thread have to do with any of that?
So it was reported because I implied RFayette was better than other posters?  It was moderated because I didn't call TJ a homophobe?

It was an observation I had... that three of the posters in this thread that voted "evil" have a history of saying homophobic things on the forum.  And one gets his undies all in a bundle when you call him out for it.

So I like to call them out for it whenever and whereever I can.

The offense that they feel by me calling them homophobes is infinitesimally small compared to the offense and distress they cause me by their words, beliefs, and actions.

One of them was lamenting how awful it would be to be rejected by your family for being a Christian in another thread... oh the HORROR!  It's not like a particular group of people isn't used to being rejected by friends, family, Christianity, society for something they actually have no ability to change.

But please... carry on.  Edit my posts.  Delete them.  Consider the term "homophobe" excessive hyperbole if you would like.

It continues the trend of the mod team not at all reflecting the demographics of the forum at large and that will only lead to more clashes.

Oh no, I was just asking.

Apologies in advance for the wall of text.

Snowguy, I'll admit I was intentionally caustic in my previous reply. I'm sorry about acting that way over what is clearly an emotional issue. I had a whole thing written up regarding a variety of points made in this thread, and I can send it to you if you want, but I didn't want to turn this into either a full derailing of the thread (too late), or a convo where we send each other 9 paragraph messages the other doesn't really want to read. So in short, my actions and motivations were thus: I saw multiple posters had reported your comment labeling some posters homophobes. I consulted the moderators, and those that responded by the time I had acted made a distinction between political stances (such as opposition to gay marriage) and actual statements or character. The two phrases used were "personal attack" and "excessive hyperbole"; I opted to use the latter in categorizing your statement, but it could have easily been the former. The issue of whether opposition to gay marriage is in itself homophobic probably deserves its own thread, and given this controversy, it may deserve its own sort of discussion on the Atlas board. I myself would not be very offended in being called a homophobe, and I don't really intend to be seen as acting as some sort of Christian vanguard--my views on either issue can be obtained via PM if anyone wishes. Now I think there is room aside from these issues of whether "homophobe" itself is enough of an insult to warrant its being deleted--if I called someone a Putinbot, my comment might be wholly inaccurate, but I wouldn't regard it serious enough to be deleted--and I am attempting to get a better idea from other mods as to where the line is drawn.

I read that you called him “better than other posters,” but I didn’t know if he was one of the “good homophobes” or something like that.

It was simple exclusion of RFayette from a list.
