We need to decide between Social Democratic Union and Labor Party for our name. Atlasia has had Social Democratic Parties in the past but never a Labor Party, and 'Social Democratic' might remind one of certain European neoliberal sellouts we could name. On the other hand, Social Democratic has the arguable advantage of actually being the name of our ideology. I'm supporting Labor Party.

We also need to decide on our party color. There's been some objection to using red or orange for much the same reason that some of us don't want to use Social Democratic, and suggested have been fuchsia, maroon, and dusty pink. I'm supporting dusty pink.

This vote will last for forty-eight hours, beginning now (6.00 pm EST, 28 January). The name vote is simple majority since there are only two options. The party color vote is IRV.

Ballot

Name

[ ] Social Democratic Union
[ ] Labor Party of Atlasia

Color

[ ] Fuchsia
[ ] Maroon
[ ] Dusty pink

Process magenta (subtractive primary, sRGB approximation) and magenta (additive secondary) are uh...ugly and kind of inappropriate at best. I'm only including fuchsia as an option anyway because it was asked for, I forget by whom, and I feel that I should make it clear that if it wins I'm going to make the specific shade in use magenta dye (#CA1F7B) unless the membership is really wedded to one of the other shades for whatever reason. I want to respect party democracy but magenta (additive secondary)  in particular actually hurts my eyes to look at significant amounts of.

Red is already in use by one of the other new parties.

My feelings aren't as strong on the subject of the name.

To people interested in joining the party : don't forget to officially register ! Unfortunately, the JCP's dissolution won't authomatically translate caucus affiliation into party affiliation.

Only 5 members have registered in the new party, 7 are still in the old caucus.

All right, then, this is important! I hope everybody sees this. Can we PM the old caucus members reminding them that this has to be done?

In about an hour I'm going to finish up some 宿題 and run some errands in Amherst and Northampton and probably won't be back until about eight o' clock (Eastern Standard Time) this evening. I trust you guys not to continue voting after 6.02 pm, when the balloting period officially ends. This evening I will announce the results and the next steps in making the SDU (NSTC) the strongest party of the serious left in the Republic of Atlasia!

By a vote of 5-4, we are the LABOR PARTY OF ATLASIA.

By a vote of 4-2-2, MAROON is chosen as our party color on the first ballot, since it doesn't matter which of fuchsia and dusty pink we might decide to eliminate.

Talk amongst yourselves. The plan for our party convention is forthcoming.

Maroon won the vote and I don't particularly feel like having another, so why don't we use both?

A lot of us thought primary red was overused and played-out, I think.
