Sorry for the double post:

As a newly minted top-tier candidate, I think Mayor Pete really needs to go back to the drawing board on these Bumper Stickers. If I put this on my car, no one will have any idea what its trying to say.

https://store.peteforamerica.com/collections/gear/products/pete-2020-bumper-stickers

Oh no why did he do that?

I like them. They're minimalistic. He obviously knows his last name is difficult for people to remember/pronounce so he just went with PETE.

Also, remember how I got my username because I was designing my own Ron Paul logos in junior high and I wrote "20 RP 12" and I thought that was so cool and everyone laughed at me?

So when Mayor Pete gets elected, will everyone call him "President Pete"?

President Mayor Pete.

I think he would make a terrific nominee for the Democratic Party.

He's too moderate for me, but I think he would almost definitely beat Trump if he won the nomination, just going off his speeches and charisma.

My mom, one of the most diehard Trump supporters you could ever meet, said that while she would never vote for him in a million years, he is incredibly intelligent and a refreshing change of pace from mainstream Democrats.

But she did not like that he "attacked" Pence for his religious beliefs.

Great move by the campaign to do this now. I still think Pete has some 'splainin to do about his time at McKinsey.

fk jail, they should both be deported. But the bright side is that this means the right is scared of Pete...enough to risk shooting themselves in the foot over it.

Pete has no chance in hell of getting the nomination.

Yeah it was funny when people were saying that 2 months ago and now he's polling 3rd behind two of the most well known Democrats in the country and ahead of many more.

The original vaccines comment was a big misstep. But hey, at least he didn't double down. I get a lot of folks around here are looking for reasons to hate Pete, but this isn't one of them.

I keep hearing how Pete is just another white male running for President and that's the only reason his candidacy took off but none of the other candidates are being interrupted with "one man, one woman" protesters so

None of the other candidates are gay...

He’s taking off because he’s a gay white male whose intellectualism appeals to the Washington press corps.

Aside from Bernie and Biden, there are about fifty identical white males running for the Democratic nomination right now, none of whom are gaining any traction whatsoever. Being a white guy is hardly a guarantor of success in the DNC these days.
This post doesn’t make sense considering he is also gay and that was noted in the post you quoted.

So he's successful because he's gay, not because he's a white guy. So just say that.
A gay white male.

A black lesbian would not get this attention. Marginalized groups are not interchangeable.

This is extremely important to remember, but my point was to the mega leftists (mostly on twitter) saying that Pete “isn’t gay enough” or he’s just another white male candidate

Now the God Emperor is at his name, lol: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wqNSO_ZCpiY (starting at about 45 sec)

I actually agree with Trump, I would love to see Pete and Xi in the same room and I would want Trump to witness it. To see what diplomacy really looks like when handled by someone who isn't absolutely mad.

I'm 22 and I got the reference, and I think Pete's point was more that the President has to stick to schoolyard bully tactics and dated references to gain political clout but...I've seen a lot of galaxy brain liberals being like "what kind of IDIOT doesn't know who Alfred E. Neuman is???"

Pete has released a page on his website detailing specific policy proposals and goals for a variety of issues.

This is a great step towards him solidifying himself as a serious contender.

I thought about this today...is it completely unreasonable to think Pete might be Chief of Staff for someone like Biden?

"We didn't kick him out, we just told him we didn't accept him for being gay" has got to be one of the least good arguments ever made

MSNBC found an old 2004 election clip of Mayor Pete grilling Dick Gephardt at a Town Hall while Mayor Pete was in college.

https://thehill.com/homenews/campaign/446764-gephardt-questions-buttigieg-at-town-hall-in-reverse-of-04-campaign

This is hysterical.

I like Pete, but a solid portion of his support seems to be propped up by NowThis news clips on Twitter and YouTube.

Says the O’Rourke supporter

Yeah, because O’Rourke definitely gets the same fawning media coverage is Buttigieg. I remember just the other day how Beto laughed at a heckler and got wall-to-wall praise for his handling of it.

...Beto is literally running for President because white liberals fawned over his campaign so much that he rode a wave of being an it-boy into a field he doesn't belong in

Yeah, Pete definitely went on the show with the intention of doing exactly this and he definitely did it because he wanted to court black voters. I'm sure the hosts were deeply offended when he suggested that they do this, but Pete forced them at gunpoint to play into a racist fantasy that he clearly has.

Buttigieg campaign says it raised $7 million in April alone:

https://www.politico.com/story/2019/06/17/pete-buttigieg-raised-7-million-1365911

Quote
Pete Buttigieg’s campaign jolted its top donors with big news on a conference call last month: The upstart mayor had raised $7 million in the month of April alone, as much as Buttigieg had in his entire eye-catching first quarter in the presidential race.

The huge April haul, which was previously unreported, highlights Buttigieg’s explosive rise in the Democratic presidential race — and Buttigieg hopes to do it again next month by announcing a top-tier second quarter haul that at least doubles his last campaign finance report, putting the 37-year-old among the biggest fundraisers seeking the presidency in 2020 and cementing his leap from long shot status at the beginning this year.

Thats 7 million gone to waste right there.

Your contributions to this thread so far include:

-Homophobia
-Misrepresenting the truth
-Generic comment about his fundraising being a waste

You're off to a great start here, homie. Fast track to being banned. Kudos.

The whole police shooting thing is why I'm not really sold on Pete yet. This is probably the biggest leadership test he'll face and it really pales in comparison to the decisions Senators or Governors have to make on a daily basis. His job as Mayor and its scope are just so insignificant, I have a hard time voting for him over other qualified candidates.

And yet he has gone back to South Bend to meet with community leaders and listen to their perspective and has shown a real willingness to mediate healing in that community. Senators don't do that. Governors don't do that. Ask Jay Nixon. Ask Rick Scott.

That’s all well and good, but their original point still stands regardless of how successfully he handles the situation.

I don't see how a mayor dealing with race relations hands-on in their communities "pales in comparison" to what Senators do. Maybe Governors. We've already established that Pete would have a tough time ascending to a higher office in Indiana, so why should he be thrown to the side for being politically stonewalled (pun somewhat intended) in his home state?

Besides, I think he has a basic level of competence of the job. We've already seen the most incompetent human being to ever serve has President manage to survive thus far due to the (bare minimum) level of competence of the people around him. Are we suggesting that Pete wouldn't surround himself with people capable of filling in the experience gaps if he were elected President?

Good grief. Buttigieg's only mistake here was attempting to speak with people who only wanted to shout at him.

The worst part is that nothing he has said or done has been out of step politically, socially, or legally. He's just in a bad spot as someone who happens to be running for President so it seems like he's only doing this for the photo op. Which sucks, but it's important to understand why this moment is so important for his campaign: he is dealing directly with one of the most difficult issues for a politician to face: race relations. His statements and policy proposals from here on will show what he learned from this. I just fear that the clip of the protesters yelling at him will become an attack ad saying he doesn't represent black interests.
