An awful lot of the time Democracy is about getting stupid people to vote for you over reasons that don't make sense. Both parties do it all the time. There has long been a narrative that the Democratic Party is the party of coastal elites and the Republicans are the party of "middle America". Nothing really new hear. The narrative doesn't always make (though in this case, I'm not complaining Tongue) I doubt there are many people out there, if anyone, all ready to vote for Romney who will change their mind and vote for Obama over this column by Michael Barone.

This is a play to get people like me to go out and vote against President Obama because he is hostile to my values. Of course I was going to do that anyway without someone telling me blah blah blah American blah blah constitution blah family values. In fact, the Republican Party would work a lot better if other like-minded individuals felt the same way instead of needing to be told. When Kathleen Sebelius first released the decision (in)famous birth control decision I felt like the administration was trolling me or something. But those are the times we live in I guess. I suppose by the time I have kids they'll get handed a box of 100 condoms on the first day of 5th grade and told to go have fun.

Back on topic, this is more of a Republican style class warfare piece, "coastal elites" vs. "real America", whereas the Democrats class warfare is "The 1%" vs. "The 99%".
