Clanbake? Is this some weird pro-weed festival hosted by liberal members of the KKK?

The 1924 DNC received the nickname of "Klanbake" because it was a long drawn out affair that lasted over two weeks and more than 100 ballots as the delegates baked in summer and the participation of Klansmen as delegates was a contentious issue, as was an anti-Klan platform plank that was introduced by Forney Johnston of Alabama, but defeated.  Incidentally, McAdoo was the Klan kanidate.
