Well, Athens is pretty much screwed in political representation. Its a small blue dot surrounded by a sea of rural redness, there's no good way a district that has Athens to have a democrat congressperson without gerrymandering.

Obama won 52-48, it's pretty similar to John Barrow's old district.

Here are
three congressional districts, each of which do not overlap one another at all, except for Clarke County-Athens (shown in black). The entirety Dem/Rep Obama/McCain results of each district is shown below (includes Clarke-Athens portion). While none are blow-outs, that's not really the point: each of them could be competitive, majority-white districts with Athens.
