J.J's arguement dismantled...

I know many find this hard to believe but President Obama is in over his head and people across this country are realizing that it is time to put someone in there who actually knows what he's doing.

The problem is, nothing indicates that Romney knows how to run a government.

He ran a state, a business and the Olympics.

The last two are irrelevant.  (Indeed, based on prior examples, knowing how to run a business has typically been an indicator for being a bad president,)  As for State government, past experience has shown that gubernatorial experience is no guarantee of being a good President.  Granted, Cleveland, both Roosevelts, Reagan, and Clinton were governors, but so were Jefferson, Andrew Johnson, Wilson, Coolidge, Carter, and Dubya, so it certainly does not indicate things will be smooth.  Since state governments typically have far more restrictions what they can do, saying a good governor will be a good president is like saying someone who is a good enough driver to get a safe-driver discount will also be a good enough driver to win the NASCAR Sprint Cup.

Romney has shown himself too eager to say whatever he thinks will be good politics without bothering to determine if it will be good policy, and if were to actually do everything he says he would do in the foreign policy arena, he'll easily combine the worst aspects of Wilson and Hoover in one administration.  (Granted I don't think he'll actually do what he says he would do, which is good in that it would be a disaster, but is also bad in that it means foreign governments will not be able to place any trust in Romney doing what he says, )

And without right to work laws you are forced to join a union whether you want to or not, does that not violate libertarian principles?

No, because no one is forced to work for a particular employer so no they aren't forced to join a union if an employer agrees to having a closed shop.  You're exhibiting the sort of workplace entitlement I'd expect from a progressive rather than a libertarian.  No employee has any inherent natural rights to his current job.  Any that he has comes from either a contract he has entered into or those provided by government action.

Burning Oldies isn't much of an accomplishment but...

don't usually read books from cover to cover.

I wish I could say I was surprised.

Most Democrats, the moronic lefties... love to redefine actual events as inaccurate and paint over the inconvenient and painful truths;

Calm down, bro. A sizable portion of your party believes the Earth is ~6,000 years old.

Simfan, please go back to your old self.  I feel like I'm reading Lief's posts twice and that's not a knock on Lief, as I would feel the same way if Lief started posting like old Simfan.  There's too much Yin and not enough Yang on this forum right now.

Erm...

But yes! That's it! I was trying to be Lief! . I had not managed to concoct a complete worldview- it ranged from a latte liberal to a collegiate socialist. Given more time, a definite persona a with viewpoint somewhere within that spectrum would have emerged. But that was it- Lief!

I haven't really been around for months, and I can still tell that you've been trying too hard.

It's like, your posts are always readable, and yet utterly incomprehensible and irrelevant at the same time.

While this is certainly comedy gold (to which I laughed out loud), this is a better home for it:

Torie keeping it real:

Do you guys think insulting my parents will cause me to take a second look.  What's done is done and there is zero need to keep pounding me over and over and over and insulting my parents.

The vast majority here think your parents are showing terrible judgment. If you don't want our reactions, and opinions, shut down the thread. Period. This is not a one way conversation. You have facebook as the place to get high fives from your fans. Use that venue if that is what you want.

LOL. I have to laugh at the idea that:

1-Anyone in the media finds this even surprising, just like after Michael Phelps and Justin Bieber. A 22-year old smoking a joint in surprising in what way again?
2-That anyone would get upset over this.

Nobody in the media finds this surprising, BRTD. Rather they play it up for shock value because it sells their tabloids.

More importantly, I think it speaks a good deal about you that you think this is something you need to notify us about.

Everybody is playing their characters to a T in this thread.  Except Angus, needs more words sir.  That was an exceptional Tweed work in the OP Tweed...wishing to be gay....freaking classic!.  opebo was as opebo as ever, even got a "Thailand" in there.  BRTD, good work...maybe add something about hipster christians next time?  Great job everybody.  Lets call it a day.  Tomorrow we'll work on consistency again.  If you want something to work on at home, try looking at your old posts for some new ideas on subjects you haven't ran into the ground for awhile.  How long has it been since BRTD bashed South Park in a thread about Syria?  Always room for improvement guys.
We just need you to advocate for invasion of some country with a high percentage of gays for "liberation" while citing libertarian principles.

I am going to make a pact with myself. I am never going to read this thread again. Period! (Unless there is a report perhaps, and then I might check the post.) Bushie doesn't even want to have a f'ing conversation. It is all about him, all the time, the fat narcissist. It is as if he is deaf. I'm done. Jeez! You are very lucky that  I'm not your parent, that is all I have to say (unless you have really severe mental problems that you are not fessing up to - like some form of psychosis, in which event you need to get back on your meds).

Excellent. Torie is a good man and his advice should be heeded.

I can't even go in that thread any more. It's too exhausting. Bushie's narcissism and stubbornness is too much.

Goodness, you must be ready for dinner, no?

What does this mean? Is this Bushie's super lame attempt to be clever in tackling critics?

It's probably something subconscious.  He's really the only person I know who could be ready for dinner 18 minutes after he ate lunch.

I'm not sure those critical of said posts would be best defined as "religionists."

I really don't understand how putting a post in a thread about good comebacks or "burns" labels someone a "bad guy."

Perhaps if this was The Deluge that would be understandable...

Is this another one of those Naso generated threads, where Naso says something provocative, and then splits, never to post again?  Naso seems to not even have a scintilla of marsupial instincts when it comes to hosting and nurturing his own threads. He just leaves his mark like a male dog peeing out the perimeter of the territory, and then repairs to his lair.

Hmm, even the main site has given up fueling your misunderstanding of US history.

Mods, please feel free to just go ahead and ban me if you ever unban jmfcst.

Not saying that in some sort of martyr way; I'd just rather not be around.

Might as well.  I mean, we wouldn't want you to become a cynical, unlikeable douche, now would we?

Hmm I would've seen that but that would've required me to not have that user on ignore.

I don't disagree with the assessment though.

I'm not really calling you an idiot as such. It is more that your attitudes are stupid. And not just stupid but also callous, thuggish and generally quite dangerous. The question is whether you have the capacity to change or whether you are some form of moral reprobate. A question that I can't answer - as amusing as it would be to heavily imply the latter - because I don't know you.

One for the ages:

I find you repulsive because nearly all the things you do, you do to glorify yourself. The african kids, the dog, etc, are all about you. You sin over and over, scam people, lie, steal and mistreat yourself and others to make yourself feel better, yet you think it's all okay because you pray to god for forgiveness and you think he will forgive.

You have African orphans call you daddy, because your grandma sends them money every month, knowing full and well you will never adopt them, which will only lead to the kids growing up confused and ultimately hurt. You steal money from your parents all the time for frivolous things like porn, trips out to eat, hotel stays, etc.

You refuse to work while living the comfortable lifestyle you wish to have off the backs of your parents, because working seems to be beneath you. You have your poor father do everything while you nap all afternoon every day and seem to be unashamed of it. In addition to that, you are morbidly obese, yet you go to McDonalds nearly every day (that seems to be the only thing you can do on your own), and refuse, despite all the technology at your fingertips, to educate yourself on proper diet that would benefit you and your sick mother, because, well, it wouldn't be about you anymore, and that's not about to happen.

A dog was abandoned on your property, and instead of trying to find it a home, you keep it because you want a dog to call you daddy, knowing full and well you intend to leave it behind in a year, like you left your cat before it. Not only that, the dog lives outdoors in the Oklahoma heat and you only go out to see it once in a while. Oh, and it took you weeks to figure out what sex it was. Sorry, I also don't care about what dogs and humans did in the old days. This isn't the stone ages.

Finally, you claim to be a Christian and a follower of Jesus, yet you only follow the parts of the Bible that suit you while ignoring all the other parts you don't agree with, like treating your body well, working honestly, loving your neighbors, etc. But you think it's all okay because you will be forgiven despite the fact you embody nearly all of the seven deadly sins.

The honest truth is, I have never come across a bigger hypocrite than you, Bushie, and I hate to say that because I used to think you had your heart in the right place. I used to want to see you succeed, but it's difficult to want that anymore because you yourself have no interest in succeeding. You only wish to glorify yourself in your own mind and stroke that sense of sense importance that we can all feel in your words.

I don't mean to come across as harsh, but that is the honest truth. You've become a monster, and I know I'm not the only one that feels this way, and I don't like feeling this way either.

I put that in the Good Post Gallery, Mr. Kemp, since Dukey wasn't looking for a burn.......Dukey is a big softie.

He may have not been looking for it (although he did call him "repulsive") but it's certainly one of the more epic burns in Atlas history.
