Simon did by far the best. So why is that? Well take a look at the third party results...and the names of the parties and note which one doesn't appear for Secretary of State. Cheesy Now consider that neither of these candidates ran a campaign, I had never heard of either one's name until I saw it on the ballot, and neither one even has a website. In other words they had absolutely NOTHING going for them aside from the party name.

Secretary of State:

The only person who didn't have a website was the Libertarian.

I thought Otto was weaker than Simon, but her opponent completely imploded.

Otto is an uncontroversial incumbent, Simon is a very boring legislator whose entire campaign didn't consist of anything besides "I'm a Democrat and I'm running for Secretary of State." Of course his opponent's platform was basically that it needs to be more difficult to vote in Minnesota.

I'm talking about the non-SoS races.
