Middlesbrough did remain an unusually strong Liberal area, throughout the inter war years. The Middlesbrough West constituency was represented by the Liberals from 1918-1945. Middlesbrough East also had Liberal MPs 1923-24 and 1931-1935.

I am not sure the history makes much difference nowadays, but there must still be a few people in the town who are old enough to remember it.
