What's interesting is that this is probably the first bitter political confrontation between Mormon candidates in a long time. Cardon and Flake are both from very, very old Arizona Mormon families, so It'll be interesting to see how the Arizona Mormons divide their vote between the two. In fact, it could be a good indicator of how the future of LDS conservatism goes. Will it dig into traditional moralistic conservatism, or will there be a vague libertarian streak that pervades most political issues?
