I'm a liberal and I don't think conservatives are evil, so I guess his hypothesis fails. Tongue

Seriously though, I don't hate George Bush.  I said in another thread that I did, but I thought about it, and I don't, really.  I don't like many of his policies and I think he's far too arrogant but I don't hate him.  I can understand where his ideas comes from.  I don't agree with them at all and I think that they're far too black-and-white, but I can understand where they come from.

Most people on the left don't think those on the right are evil.  We may think they're misguided, perhaps foolish, on certain issues, but certainly not evil.  We know that you love your country as much as we do and recognize that you can't be stereotyped in any truthful manner (hint, hint).

Well send, johngalt.  I do my best not to label people during conversations because I personally think that it will do nothing but harm to do so.  If you say "Person X is a liberal" or "Person Y is a conservative", that perception will inevitably cloud your judgement of what the person says.  If you are in favor of the ideology of a given label, you may not be able to recognize errors that the person makes.  If you are opposed to it, you may not be able to recognize truths that the person makes.

In the end, Person X is Person X and Person Y is Person Y.  Even if they both identify as the same ideology, there's a very high likelihood that they're not the same person.

Are these people "evil?"  No, of course not.  They're simply voting over abstract conceps instead of actual economic consequences.  That's their decision.  But is it an informed decision?  No, of course not.

I have a feeling that most conservatives would probably say the exact same thing about liberals.

This obviously proves that all liberals hate freedom.

I do think that many liberals are blind to their own prejudices and bigotries, even as they loudly condemn other people for theirs'.  A certain level of prejudice and bigotry is a normal human failing, but it is irritating to be lectured by holier-than-thou liberals who are blind to their own failings.

Perhaps not you, but they're certainly out there.
