Does anyone else find it weirdly statist to require children to recite a pledge to the country's flag every day? What is the goal? It sounds like something out of Communist Russia, not the United States.
These children aren't going in front of the House Un-American Activities Committee. None of them are going to commit treason. No need to require their allegiance.
It's better to teach them American history and civics every day.
