Squirtle is the hands down best Kanto starter and we should call dibs before the other Regions or else we will get stuck with Bulbasaur. As the best, Squirtle is a good representation of our region since we are also the best.

It's ironic because objectively the Bulbasaur line is the best.

Only in terms of "starting" by going through the gyms in the game order. That built in type advantage evaporates in situations other than Gyms.
