Yesterday going to school outside of Glenferrie Station I was abused by a John Roskam supporter, expect the Hawthorn pre-selection process to get ugly if more people get in. It's going to expose the massive divide in Vic Liberals.

As you are well past schoolboy age I am assuming this means you work at the school?

? would you like a picture of me? you are THAT obsessed.

I already have seen pictures of you and your wife and friends/relatives on your facebook profile.

If you think carefully, this discussion doesn't have anything to do with Australia at all.

--------

Everyone, put him on ignore, and unlike me idiotically just now, don't feel tempted to click 'show'.

I finally just did that, I seriously don't understand why this German is so interested in me? Like, seriously?

---------------

Do you all reckon that with NZ pushing for a flag change, Australia might actually soon?

If only you had put me on ignore earlier, I wouldn't have kept receiving stupid replies to my posts from you. Let it stay this way.

For everybody else, any proposal of a flag change won't pop up from any LNP lead government. Neither can I see it happening under a pragmatic Shorten-led government with fear of offending. It would require the next ALP prime minister to be someone on the Left and with a substantial majority.

Andrew Barr is now the first ACT Chief Minister from the Right faction in history (as well as the first gay CM).

Labor's path in the Victorian Legislative Council just got rockier; they've been defeated on the very first vote, to elect the Speaker. By a vote of 21-17, Liberal MLC Bruce Atkinson has been re-elected as the chamber's President.

Put it this way... Labor was required to put up a candidate, and there's definitely power in the position, but they won't be disappointed by the result, as it makes it a bit easier for the lefty block to get things done.

They were not required to put up a candidate and their response to the Greens' defection was not one of lack of disappointment...
The President casts a full vote just as any other member does, so it's not as if they're losing a vote by submitting a Speaker.

Can't see the tables (subscribers only) but one would think the out of line QLD result can be attributed to the recent scandals rocking the government, however if I'm correct these polls were conducted over a period of 2-3 months.

The SA result is also surprising seeing how low Abbott's approval is.

So back in the Outback, the NT Labor Leader is being asked to resign in the wake of a damning report, and the former President of NT Labor was arrested and is being threatened with a severe jail term after returning from fighting ISIS amongst the Kurds. As you casually do.

I expect Hifly to be here any second, foaming around the mouth, and declaring that this is a betrayal and  the reason Labour parties don't win any longer.

Haha, well the news is inevitable.
We must remember however that it is simply unconscionable for Labor to outlaw their own conscience vote, while at the same time arguing that the Coalition ought to have one too.
Shorten, Albanese & co are completely right on this.

The union campaign at the next federal election is going to be massive. Bigger than 2007.

What makes you say this?

People I know who work for unions and campaign for unions, the way they're talking about what will happen during the election talking it up like it's their biggest campaign ever. It's noticeable in marginal electorates atm union campaigns are very active in Deakin atm and an election hasn't even been called. I was talking to a union guy this morning who basically summed up the campaign as "Vote for anyone but the Liberals".

What?

The CFMEU is one great piece of junk and a scar on the face of Australia.
They've been taught a lesson they won't forget.

Labor Frontbench Senator Lisa Singh (spokesperson for Climate Change) has lost preselection in favour of union official John Short.

Shorten has said he will respect the result. From the couple of times I heard Singh she came across as a whiny hack so glad to see her following the footsteps of the odious Louise Pratt into retirement.

Singh comes from a political dynasty in the continent.
It's always welcoming to see somebody of ordinary background have a run for public office.
