Yes the northeast used to be where the battle ground states were along with the mid-west. CT, NJ, DE, PA, MD, and NY were battle grounds that all moved to the left. The same can be said for WI, IA, MI, and IL. You had all the big states being close in the mid 20th century too like CA, FL, TX, and NY. Times have really changed. In the south TX, TN, and KY were battlegrounds before the 90's. Imagine today an election coming down to a few thousand votes in CA, TX, NY, NJ, PA, OH, FL, and IL. My heart could't take it.
