Would a Senator please introduce this?

A) There shall be no death penalty.

B) Prisoners sentanced to life shall be used for medical research/testing, or target practice for the armed forces.

C) This bill shall take effect one day after it's approval.

Inhumane, but then so are those prisoners...

While I don't think that prisoners should be given any luxuries of any kind while in prison, this goes far beyond that and would result in prisoners being treated as if they were no longer human beings.  The idea of using prisoners for "medical research/testing" sounds ominously Naziesque, even if the prisoners, unlike the Jews, did something to get where they are.  Using them for "target practice" brings to mind this image:

This would be an extremely dangerous step indeed and would certainly amount to cruel and unusual punishment.

This is horrible and inhumane. It is much more humane to kill a man with lethal injection than to submit him to medical testing/research. This bill is inhumane and is very fascistic. Only in countries where their are no civil rights and no human freedoms would such torture be allowed. I say that we do not propose this bill and that he all join together in condemning the words of Mr. Nixon. This reminds me of the Nazis and while you may want to lead Atlasia down that path I do not want to.

In case anybody was wondering, this bill is grossly unconstitutional. The words "cruel and unusual punishment" don't quite do it justice.

I don't think so Al. It would be an infringement on his first amendment rights of free speech.

I disagree with both parts A and B. I do think prisoners should be allowed the option of being used for medical research/testing, but that should be voluntary. And target practice? Haven't you heard of something called a Bullseye? Works plenty well for sharpshooters.

Let's be practical.  If you intend on using prisoners to help train the armed forces, it would be much more useful to use them for bayonet practice than for target practice.

As Secretary of Defense, I can tell you that we have plenty of Guantananamo prisoners we use for target (and bayonet) practice. Wink

We thank Mr. Nixon for his concern, but this bill will not be needed.
