Some sources say it was the brutal suppression of this action that sealed the doom of unionism in the South. The region was 99% controlled by the Democratic party and FDR used his personal prestige and his Labor Relations Board to help defeat the strike. If true, this would be the greatest failure of FDR, and it is not often acknowledged.
