I'm not sure. The cultural conservatives who this would offend the most were never enthusiastic about Schwarzenegger to begin with.

I doubt even the kid would drive him down to single-digits, but very close...

I think the even more interesting question would be whether he would have the gumption to stay in office?

because he presided over a booming economy and had 60% + approval ratings even while the House was impeaching him.

Probably not. It's virtually impossible to fall to single digit approvals.

Btw, most Californians would be surprised if he didn't have at least one affair considering the mudslinging in 2003.

Rasmussen Reports - 68% View Schwarzenegger Unfavorably

So... no.

Most people already had stuff [affairs] like this baked into their perception of him.

Exactly. Most of this stuff had been around for awhile. It just confirmed old rumors (not specifically of this case but of his womanizing).

So far he hasn't had a parade of 120+ putanas come forward, like Tiger's Wood did.

People are pissed because he made Maria Shriver look like a fool, and Maria has way more public appeal than Hillary (who was not yet a celebrity).

Shriver is a Kennedy, a Public friend to Oprah, and a popular TV reporter.  Women supporter Shriver as First Lady of California, not just Arnold.  Without Shriver, Arnold would have had a lot more difficulty winning woman voters.

There's a big perceived difference between just having affairs and fathering a bastard.  In the latter case, there's literal results of the relationship following you around permanently.  It makes the situation far more difficult to ignore or paper over.
