Perry earns 46% support from Likely Wisconsin Voters to Obama’s 42% in a new statewide telephone survey. Six percent (6%) prefer some other candidate, and another six percent (6%) are undecided. (To see survey question wording, click here.)

Former Massachusetts Governor Mitt Romney, the front-runner in the national race for the GOP presidential nomination, trails the president by four points - 45% to 41% - among Wisconsin voters. Seven percent (7%) favor someone else, and seven percent (7%) are undecided.

Obama bests Georgia businessman Herman Cain, Romney’s chief Republican challenger at this point, 47% to 42%, with five percent (5%) still undecided. Seven percent (7%) opt for some other candidate.

Just four percent (4%) of Wisconsin voters rate the U.S. economy as good or excellent, while 60% view it as poor. Among those voters who regard the economy as poor, all three Republicans lead the president by roughly 20 points.

Obama carried Wisconsin over Republican John McCain with 56% of the vote, but voters in the state are evenly divided in their assessment of his job performance: 48% approve of the job the president’s doing, including 20% who Strongly Approve. 49% disapprove, with 38% who Strongly Disapprove. That’s slightly higher approval than Obama earns nationally in the Rasmussen Reports daily Presidential Tracking Poll.

All three Republican presidential hopefuls earn around 80% support from GOP voters in the state. Obama runs more strongly among Democrats when Romney or Cain are his opponents. Among voters not affiliated with either of the major parties, the president posts single-digit leads over Romney and Cain and leads Perry by 11.

Twenty-four percent (24%) of all Wisconsin voters think the bailout of the auto industry and financial sector were bad for the county. Fifty-seven percent (57%) view them as a bad economic move.

Obama picks up just over two-out-of-three votes among those who regard the bailouts as a good move. Perry gets nearly as strong support from those opposed to the bailouts, while Romney and Cain earn slightly fewer votes from this group.

Hmm.

Rasmussen must have taken the same drugs like Perry did before his NH speech ...

Wuh what? That doesn't make sense. Perry trails by 8-9 in Florida (per other polls) but leads by 4 in Wisconsin?

These Obama-Perry numbers make no sense !

Obama does better with Democrats with Romney and Cain ?

Perry trails by 11 among Independents, yet he leads Obama by 4 overall ?

WTF ?

WTF? Did Scott just make these numbers up in the shower this morning? I mean honestly after the disaster that Rasmussen had with the 2010 polling you would think that they would try to reclaim some of their lost credibility... not pull something like this.

I know Rasmussen's credibility as a pollster has been on the decline, but this is a bit much!

I think we know who Scott is pulling for; he must be a Perry fan.

I think we should trust PPP, which actually CAN poll Wisconsin - as seen in their correct recall polls.

Most likely a transposition error.  Rasmussen has done that before. But even that looks extremely charitable -- to Perry.

Wouldn't be the first time his polling tried to break Romney's electability argument.

Didn't Scott have Obama leading Perry by like 15% in his last national poll of that potential race? Clearly these numbers make perfect sense with those... Tongue
