The 1994 Massachusetts map looks exactly like the Massachusetts Presidential map in the last three five elections so it's not quite the same.

It makes the point when Romney got blown away in a race in 1994 that was, at points, a toss up.

Let them debate about 2006. The base is going to like Santorum's decision to run and get destroyed in a bad year in a tough state more than they'll like Romney bailing.

I agree with Phil. Attacking Santorum's 28-point loss, as politically damaging as that supposedly is, will probably hurt Romney since Santorum can just spin it as "standing up for conservative principles blah blah blah".

One, Romney has nothing to do with this Super PAC.

Mitt Romney on his Super PAC:

"Well, of course it's former staff of mine. And, of course they're people who support me."

The notion that  Romney "has nothing to do with the Super PAC" is an egregious untruth. The law states that the Super PAC cannot take direct orders from the Romney campaign. However, the Super Pac can, and does, coordinate its ads with the Romney campaign by reading accounts of Romney's campaign strategy repeated in the press.

Romney could say today, "Negative attacks against fellow Republicans are unacceptable!," and the Super Pac would desist tomorrow without violating any laws regulating super PACs.

There is a wink and nudge in the attacks against Santorum, and, you know it!

The Romney SuperPac ad dropped on the same day Romney's team was pushing the same exact anti-Santorum message via their surrogates. Of course this is just a coincidence, right?

I am sure there is some kind of cooperation going on with all the superpacs. The activities of all of them have been too coordinated with messaging and timing. I am sure the same thing is going on with Obama's SuperPac as well. The whole thing is a joke.

In 2011 Romney got away with appearing that he had nothing to do with the SuperPac but in January with it being such a big topic in the debates (and maybe Colbert's satire), people are now not seeing any difference between the superpacs and the campaigns. Romney's negatives have gone up within the GOP and a lot of that I think is due to how negative his superpac has been.
