He's basically been endorsed by Mitch: http://politicalticker.blogs.cnn.com/2012/04/01/mcconnell-romney-will-be-an-outstanding-nominee/

Not surprised, really.  Doesn't the Tea Party hate McConnell for some odd reason?

Yes. My fantasy is that McConnell uses some of his warchest in fending off a TP challenger, then loses a battle against Grimes or Conway in the general. He probably is the most vulnerable non-Democratic incumbent.

He's in the right state for something like that to happen, certainly.

A state that is Republican enough to elect Jim Bunning twice?

Oh, I thought this was going to be an Onion article. How disappointing.

Bunning won both of his elections very narrowly and we did have a good shot at picking up the seat in 2010.  If the Democrats nominate a competitive candidate against a Tea Party candidate, we could take McConnell's seat.

Of course, if Obama wins reelection, conventional wisdom is that we won't get very far with that in 2014.

Eh...I think you forgot that this is Jim Bunning we're talking about.

Any normal and sane Republican should have no problem winning in Kentucky.

Because 1998 was a terrible year.

1998 was one of those rare exceptions for an incumbent president.

And yet McConnell refused to endorse him outright. Go figure that one out.
