Several politicos will be giving speeches at the DNC just for the Iowa delegation:

"Villaraigosa is the chairman of the convention, so his visit can be seen as a signal of the Iowa delegation’s status."  For the other non-Iowa politicians listed here, it's hard to read this as something other than a sign that they might be interested in running for president at some point, in either 2016 or beyond.

OK, I'm turning this into a generic 2016 buzz at the DNC thread.  This article has some more tidbits:

Also, Reid Wilson, editor of The Hotline, tweets:

Also, in addition to meeting with the Iowa delegation, both Klobuchar and O'Malley are meeting with the South Carolina delegation:

And in addition to meeting with the Iowa delegates, Schweitzer is also meeting with the NH delegation:

Klobuchar seems to be too much of a nonentity for that.

This article is well worth reading in its entirety if you're interested in 2016:

Interesting tidbits from the article include:

-Biden decided not to make a breakfast appearance with the Iowa delegation as other 2016ers are because it would look unseemly for Obama's VP to be seen as looking past this election......but he's been meeting with smaller groups of Iowa politicos in other settings.

-Biden's fellow Delawarean "Gov. Jack Markell also may consider a White House run, according to a Democratic source."

-Is Villaraigosa also planning a 2016 run, even though he's only a mayor?  "Villaraigosa is keynoting Iowa’s J-J Dinner this fall."

-Everyone agrees that no one is running harder for 2016 than O'Malley:

These are non-scientific polls with huge margins of error, so I'm not going to bother start a new thread over this, but will post it here.  New York Magazine surveyed 50 delegates at the DNC and 50 delegates at the RNC on various issues, and included these 2016 questions:

http://nymag.com/daily/intel/2012/09/50-person-poll-dnc-delegate-edition.html

In case that format is too tough to read, it's

Clinton 54%
other 20%
Cuomo 6%
Patrick 6%
Warren 6%
Emanuel 4%
O'Malley 4%
Joe Biden 0% (no love for Joe)

http://nymag.com/daily/intel/2012/08/50-person-poll-rnc-delegate-edition.html

Christie 22%
Rubio 18%
Ryan 14%
Bush 10%
Santorum 10%
Rand Paul 8%
other 8%
Huckabee 4%
Jindal 4%
Palin 2%

Dave Weigel on 2016 buzz at the DNC, after he talked to delegates:

Weigel also has tidbits on Patrick, Biden, O'Malley, Klobuchar, Hickenlooper, and Warner.

The Hill also reports from Charlotte on how HRC passing on 2016 would leave a void among female Dems:
