In 2002, Janet Reno lost the Florida Democratic Primary for Governor to Bill McBride 44.4% to 44.0%. Jeb Bush went on to beat McBride 56.0% to 43.2%.

Reno probably would have made it slightly closer, but Bush would have won by about ten points or so.

Reno would have been slaughtered. Conservatives hate her, and they would have come out in record numbers to vote against her.

Reno would have lost by a greater margin than McBride. I remember when everyone was making a big deal about McBride, saying that he would make it the closest Gubernatorial race in the nation. So much for that.

yes, but the vote in Miami Dade would have been 80% in her favour or something, and turnout would've been massive.

Dont forget Reno's connection with the Clinton-Gore administration. Just imagine, the poor mother sets off to sea and loses her life trying to give her son a better future. Instead she ended up probably causing George W Bush to be elected, and 100,000 dead in Iraq. I wonder what she would think about that if she were alive. Probaby not too happy.

Bush won by 13 points. A Bush-Reno race would have only meant a bigger Bush win.
